Our Music CD: "St. Peter's Sings"

$ 15 Canadian (incl. taxes). To buy, please contact the church office.

To commemorate the year 2000, St. Peter's has produced a CD, featuring the Senior and Junior Choirs, Sunday Church School Choir, organ music and congregational singing. The Worship and Music Committee has selected "St. Peter's Sings" as the title.

The music was recorded during the worship on May 16, 1999; and partly the previous day. The Sunday Church School was singing two selections from their repertoire; the congregation recorded four selections from the liturgy and four hymns from the Lutheran Book of Worship; the Junior Choir and the Senior Choir sang further pieces; and organ music was recorded as well.

Myrna Baetz (CD Committee) writes: "May 16 was a memorable day in the life of St. Peter's. As Pastor Beglo stated: 'we will have to wait another thousand years before we can make another millenium CD'. We stood together, sang and made history. What a great memento for generations to come! Thanks to everyone who participated and made this project a reality."

St. Peter's CD highlights the importance music has played, not only at St. Peter's but also in Lutheran tradition, throughout the years. It is attractively packaged and includes an inspirational message in the disk case. The CD can serve as an appropriate gift for a special occasion such as confirmation, birthdays and anniversaries or for someone to just enjoy a quiet hour of church music.

For us Lutherans, "Lifting up our voices unto the Lord" is an excellent and appropriate way to celebrate 2000 years of Christ and the new millenium in the year 2001, and to preserve our wonderful hymns for future generations.
